The Thomas Wolfe Memorial
is the childhood home of author, Thomas Wolfe. Thomas Wolfe immortalized his childhood home in his epic autobiographical novel, Look Homeward, Angel. Wolfe's colorful portrayal of his family, his hometown of Asheville, North Carolina, and the Old Kentucky Home boarding house earned the historic Victorian home a place as one of American Literature's most famous landmarks. The Thomas Wolfe Memorial is located 25 miles north of Hendersonville. www.wolfememorial.com

In the book there are constant references to an angel statue carved from Italian marble. The statue is located 22 miles south of Asheville, in Hendersonville's Oakdale Cemetery on Highway 64 West. www.historichendersonville.org.
